Treat yourself to an elegant Afternoon Tea in our cafe or beautiful garden, weather dependant. Enjoy delicate finger sandwiches, a scone with jam, clotted cream or butter and a selection of sweet treats along with a varied selection of teas and coffees to choose from when you arrive and a refill after your keeper talk.

Please choose from our classic or vegertarian option:

Classic - Salmon & Cream Cheese and Ham & Mustard

Vegetarian - Cream Cheese & Cucumber and Cheese & Pickle

Admission to the Museum for the day is included in the Afternoon Tea.

Thursday 13th June join our Keeper of Natural History and Geology, Mike Parlmer, who will be bringing along a selection of Buckinghamshire’s more unusual rock and mineral specimens from the Museum’s collection to talk about and hand around for a closer look. The talk will last approx. 30 minutes and there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions after as you relax with your cream tea!

Thursday 13th July join Nina our Head of Collections and Keeper of Social History. “Over 1, under 2, pull it tight and that will do.” Straw Plaiting had it's influence on the lives of people of Herts and Beds, but few know of it's impact to the people of Buckinghamshire.  Learn more about this cottage industry and take a look at some of the examples we care for at the museum. The talk will last approx. 30 minutes and there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions after as you relax with your cream tea!

Join us for a family fun day of Archaeology!

Entry to the Museum for the day is FREE. The Museum is open 10.00 - 16.00 and the Festival is taking place 11.00 - 15.00. The Roald Dahl Children's Gallery is charged as usual.

There will be lots of crafts for children to take part in including coin rubbing and brooch making as well as taking part in water excavation and a sandpit dig. Children can even make their own cave painting!

You will also be able to view and handle some exciting objects and learn more about them from Arwen Wood, Finds Liaison Officer for Buckinghamshire.

Buckinghamshire Archaeological Society – is the county’s lead society for archaeology, history, architecture and heritage and will be in attendance for the day.

Grab your friends and come and test your Retro Film and Television knowledge in our quiz covering all genres including children’s TV, Theme tunes, TV and movies from the 60,70,80,90’s.

 

Doors open at 7pm for access to our exhibition ‘May the Toy’s be with You‘ which we encourage you to view as there will be a special Star Wars round linking directly to this fabulous exhibition!

Our quiz will begin at 7:30pm with our bar available from 7pm to purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks all evening.

There will be a prize for the winning team!

And during the interval enjoy a touch of magic!!!

£5.00 per person, children welcome when accompanied with an adult.
